PLANNING & ZONING – Kiddie Academy

The owner of the property at 443 College Parkway has applied to the County for a ‘Special Exception’ to open a “Kiddie Academy” to replace the closed “Little Wonders” nursery school. They plan to expand the number of enrollments from 40 children at the old daycare business to 140 infants and toddlers at the new infant care center. This planned nursery school is located between the Raintree and Woodfield Communities who are both opposing the facility expansion that more than triples the size of the student population.

Concerns include pedestrian safety and increased levels of traffic that might block College Parkway and the entrances to both Communities during prime commuting hours. There are no turn lanes planned for this area of the two lane Parkway to alleviate the inevitable congestion. A valid and current traffic study of this area by the County is needed to prove that the resulting congestion will be manageable and not endanger those affected by the increased traffic.

These Communities have requested assistance and the BCC is working with the County to ensure a seamless traffic flow and to protect the safety of all local residents in the area.
