A Restatement of the BCC’s Purpose

The Broadneck Council of Communities, Inc. (BCC), is dedicated to the protection of residential property owner’s rights, the preservation of our sensitive critical areas, and the promotion of environmental safeguards for the Broadneck Peninsula. The BCC works with our County Council, and the County Executive’s Office, the Office of Planning and Zoning (OPZ) and members of the Maryland State Legislature. We support and collaborate with other Anne Arundel County community organizations.

Our community memberships represent over ten thousand Broadneck voters including the Homeowners’ Organizations listed in the box to the right. We also have non-HOA related individual members. We remain actively involved in zoning issues, public safety, transportation planning and through Bill Nevel, BCC Board Director, represent the Broadneck area on both our County Executive’s Transportation Commission and the 2012 Transportation Functional Master Plan (TFMP) Committee. We have focused on smart growth, limited development and improved land use planning on the Broadneck. We are currently reviewing County legislation and have expressed concerns that sections of AA County Code are deficient in protecting the rights of residential property owners.

We are supporting suggested amendments to the Code to prevent dangerous traffic patterns, noise violations, increased development in our residentially zoned communities, and overcrowding in our schools. We welcome you to add your voice in support of the needs of the Broadneck Peninsula and the advancement of our priorities.
