The AA County Board of Appeals has recently approved a “special exception” request from the Patel Company (LLD), the current owner of the ‘Little Wonders’ property on College Parkway (between Jones Station Road and College Manor). The exception allows the daycare operation to expand enrollment from approximately 25 to 140 children plus 15 staff members.
The residents of the Woodfield and Raintree communities that border the sides of the 1.1+ acre parcel, along with members of many other adjacent communities, vigorously protested this special exception request that will bring an estimated 125 cars to the College Parkway location during business hours.
The BCC is actively working with Councilman Dick Ladd and the County engineers to require a center turn lane to be approved for the area to allow east-west traffic to pass on reinforced shoulders.
At this time, the AA County Code does not restrict this level of traffic along College Parkway nor account for the potential problems with the lack of a turn lane. The BCC is working to have the Code reviewed and hopefully strengthened through amendments. Making this happen requires your interest and support for your fellow communities.
