The Broadneck Council of Communities, Inc. (BCC) provides leadership and support to our members and coordinates with other interested organizations to take action that will protect the Broadneck Peninsula. We monitor this geography for adverse environmental incursions within our Critical Areas, illegal development actions and inadequate zoning laws that threaten the privileges accorded us as property owners. We also work to support improved transportation on our Rte #50 corridors to include linked arterials that traverse our roadways.
With the above in mind, the BCC hosted one of its quarterly general meetings on Wednesday, May 20th. At the BCC General Meeting, we hosted Delegate Michael Malone – our new State of Maryland Delegate for District #33, and Delegate Cathy Vitale’s replacement, when she advanced to her judgeship on the Maryland Circuit Court. Unfortunately on his way to the BCC meeting, Michael, (our Crofton/Gambrills based legislator), experienced extensive delays in Rte #50 traffic –that we emphasized is our way of life on the Broadneck Peninsula.
The meeting included an overview of the 2015 Session with a focus on several subjects of personal interest to Michael. He reminded us that he has been a Legislator for only one month and is listening and learning. He looks forward to the 2016 session and a full session of activities. He is particularly interested in working to bring about change in how we select our Congressional representatives. He advised that we must follow the State Constitution and will support action to eliminate gerrymandering in Congressional Districts. He also will campaign to promote small business including the elimination of unnecessary taxes and fees. He will actively support limiting unnecessary regulations to make Maryland a business friendly State.
Delegate Malone is a valuable contact and our newest Legislator to the Maryland General Assembly. We plan to keep him busy.
