Cell Tower Opposition on the Broadneck

Forest Beach is fighting the installation of a cell tower. There is a valid concern about its effect on property value. They are asking for your support.

“94% of home buyers and renters say they are less interested and would pay less for property located near a cell tower or antenna. 79% said that under no circumstances would they ever purchase or rent a property within a few blocks of a cell tower.”-REALTOR Mag, July 25, 2014

A 130’ tower built 8’ above sea level can be seen from 13.74 miles away. It will sit very close to Cantler’s Restaurant.

AT&
T and Mr. Leo James (LJ Marina) have requested variances to construct a tower in a residential zone where it is not permitted, closer to nine properties than zoning allows, and at a height that is taller than regulations permit. Property values of neighboring waterfront communities will be adversely affected.

The proposed tower site is in within the Critical Area on the LJ Marina property. The tower will exist completely within R1 (Residential) zoning and be visible from 4 distinct Anne Arundel County zoning districtsall of which are zoned as Residential or Open Space areas.

The next meeting to discuss the proposed tower and what we can do to stop it is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Providence Club House at 260 Providence Rd, Annapolis, MD.

The original variance hearing set for October 15th has been postponed and has not yet been rescheduled. To view the original variance request, search “Annapolis Variance Hearings” or enter the address below: http://www.aacounty.org/Calendars/Administrative%20Hearings/event/10/15/2015

In Annapolis, it takes written consent of all neighboring property owners for a homeowner to own a chicken, yet this tower can be authorized without the consent of any of those affected. Make sure your voice is heard! Please email the Zoning Administration directly with ANY concerns you have regarding the construction of the cell tower. Their email address is [email protected] and they will enter your concerns into the case package referenced during the hearing.
