Broadneck 2016 Year in Review Pt. 4 – Monitoring Broadneck Development

The BCC hosted a Broadneck meeting requested by developer David Adler and attorney David Plott, to present their plans to build a (est.)105 home cluster development on 53 acres of property located between LogInn and Yorktown Roads north of East College Parkway. This property is zoned R-1.  Mr. Adler proposes to upzone the property to R-2 to double the number of homes on the property to 2X what the current zoning allows. He has received signed approval for the upzoning from the property owners who plan to sell their property to Adler for this development. If Mr. Adler does not receive Office of Planning and Zoning approval for this upgrade, he has advised that he will not proceed with the development.

The BCC and Broadneck communities will vigorously fight to prevent this upzoning as the addition of over 100 homes to this property off East College Parkway (near the Bay Bridge) is prohibitive to the transportation limitations of local property owners.

The only two reasons to allow upzoning -according to current AA County zoning code is:
1) –an error in the original zoning 2) –a change in the neighborhood. Neither apply in this case.
