Jim Difley of Magothey Meadows reports on current work at Destiny Circle/College Parkway intersection:
Folks……You may have recently noticed several County and State surveyors at our intersection. In speaking to a couple of them, I learned that the County is planning to install a light at the intersection.
I contacted the Department of Public Works, which is in charge of the overall effort to improve the intersection. The changes made to date (e.g., the yellow flashing beacon, lower speed limit, crosswalk markings, etc.) were the first steps in a multi-year plan by the County.
This is the current status as I understand it:
2) The plan will also include left-turn and right-turn lanes at the intersection
3) These planned improvements will occur in the same time timeframe
The County will be hiring a Consultant to perform a traffic safety and operation study. The Consultant will be hired in the June/July timeframe, and changes to the intersection will probably occur sometime next year.
The Broadneck Council of Communities (BCC) has been an active and engaged advocate for improvements to the intersection. Many thanks to Phil Ferrara of the BCC for involving and including us in this worthwhile endeavor.
