Important news to all about the funding authorization for the FHWA/MDTA NEPA 2 Study announced by the Governor today. This Study is the next action required to initiate the final plan to determine the location/build plan for the 3rd Bay Bridge. More information is available on the website for the MDOT/MDTA.
This has been a long journey for those of us who live on the Broadneck Peninsula, where eastbound traffic on the Rte #50/301 corridor, incapacitates travelers on this corridor during beach weekends. The plan is to replace the old 1952 two lane Bridge with a wider span to provide a new crossing that will accommodate the heavy E/B traffic that now extends from Thursdays through Sundays. Hordes of vehicles block homebound Broadneck residents who must compete with summer traffic that blocks our Rte #50/301 highway/service roads every weekend from May through September.
