Annapolis Office of Emergency Management introduces smartphone app

The Annapolis Office of Emergency Management has unveiled a tool to keep residents better informed in cases of emergency. The office’s new smartphone application, called Prepare Me Annapolis, provides tips on how to prepare for hurricanes, flooding and severe thunderstorms, among other scenarios. The app also gives traffic alerts and weather, as well as information about school and government closings and power outages. “It’s kind of a one-stop emergency management for the citizens of Annapolis,” said Chief Kevin Simmons, the office’s director. Simmons said office employees first approached him last winter with the idea of making an app.
