Bill 73-16 Comprehensive Rezoning
This Bill will tighten up developers’ game playing activities that enabled them to avoid the normal scrutiny of the Comprehensive Rezoning (CRZ) process. Currently they can wait until the end when they are allowed to submit a last minute request for rezoning without going through the normal submission for review to Office of Planning and Zoning (OPZ). 
The current process causes many last minute problems and quick decisions by the County OPZ and Council due to the deliberate lateness in submitting the developer’s request. Developers know the game well and practice it during the CRZ allowing much less time for a thorough review of the details for their rezoning request.
This Bill is sponsored by councilman Chris Trumbauer. This bill would solve that problem by requiring posting of a notice on the property requested for last minute rezoning.
