Election Year Issues Roundtable – May 29th

This meeting, requested by attendees at our April “Candidates’ Night”, will provide time for discussion on current issues/actions in the Maryland Legislature and County Council.  Come discuss the issues with lawmakers and make a difference.

Incumbent Speakers:
District #33 – State Senator Ed Reilly; State Delegates Cathy Vitale and Tony McConkey
District #5: County Councilman Dick Ladd
All candidates from these Districts are invited to attend.
All incumbents plan to attend.

The BCC member associations of Amberley, Cape St. Claire Improvement Association, Bay Hills, Raintree, Winchester on Severn, Windsor, Whitehall Manor and The Arnold Preservation Council invite you to attend the final “Round Table” meeting prior to the 6/24/14 primary elections.

Agenda:

  1. Each incumbent will speak on a key topic from the 2014 Legislative/County Council session to include the issue, their proposed solution, their vote and the outcome. They are asked to present open issues of concern facing the Legislature/Council in 2014-15 and their recommendation for resolution.
  2. Questions from attendees.
  3. Refreshments and “Meet and Greet” with all candidate attendees.

Key issues from the 4/28/14 “Candidates’ Night”:

  • Storm Water fee: why only ten counties ‘taxed’ by the State when storm water is generated from all 23 counties and Baltimore City?
  • Transportation: MdDOT must plan and commit funds to widen the Severn River Bridge and replace the E/B Bay Bridge. What is your plan of action?
  • Education: What is your position on Common Core?
  • Increased State Taxes and 2015 FY budget: County taxes and budget?
  • And all other questions from attendees who will attend this session.
