Storm water management is an EPA mandate to the State of Maryland and its counties. The BCC supports the County Council in their efforts to maximize the benefits of proposed legislation while minimizing possible negative impact.
County Council Bill #02-13 was introduced to determine and collect fees from property owners based on the amount of impervious surface on their property. The fee will pay for the retirement of bonds issued to fund storm water management capital projects.
Septic System remediation is now a legislative requirement by both the State and County to support the ‘Clean Water Act’ and Bay cleanup actions. This may bring costly and mandated septic system replacement when the final legislation is passed. The BCC is working to insure that Community Associations Boards of Directors are included in any discussions regarding the entry of high cost sewer service to their neighborhoods.
