AAC GDP Comments: CHAPTER ONE – INTRODUCTION

The following posts lay out the Broadneck Council of Communities Comments and positions on the first draft of the 2009 General Development Plan for Anne Arundel County, MD.

The BCC recommends that:
• Because the Small Area Plans (SAP) are a crucial part of the Planning Framework, they must be the guidelines for land use development within the County.

The introduction specifically cites that the SAPs (that were developed from and amended the 1997 GDP) are part of the “Planning Framework”. As such, these SAPs should be a defining force for the new GDP since there has been no effort to update and revise them as a part of the current GDP process. There must be a compelling and overwhelming reason to not comply with these standards in the new GDP.
